Hey!
 
It's been a while since we've posted an update but we're still working on SVO, don't you worry. The battlesystem is quite hard to program and there seem to be a handful of annoying bugs (random crashes for example) that still need to be fixed. Darkfrost has also been working on the inventory, equipment and shop code so those things will look and act a lot more like Earthbound in the next update. We're also going to redesign the dialog system so it more closely resembles the one of Earthbound.

Stuff that's on the todo list before the next release:


Inventory

Items in inventory as in EB
Same item menu thing when you select an item (use, drop, ..)
When only 1 item just make the alignment the same for the 2x etc
also highlighting when hovering over one
use the netgore drag & drop ‘capability’ to “drop” an item (not important though)
SFX, need moar sfx! (when dropping, using, ….)

Shops

They look OK right now however...
When hovering over an item that the player can equip it should flash as in EB
proper selling as well
SFX, need moar sfx! (ka-CHING!, etc)

Equipment

Same as in EB → be able to equip from the inventory or get a list of available items when selecting a body part in the equipment window
Be able to unequip stuffs
SFX (when equipping, unequipping)

Messaging/Dialogs

Scrolly text (hit a button to immediately show the text)
Make the scroll speed adjustable in the options window
Proper dialog window (also with sfx)

Batsys

You know better than me but...
Not being able to walk when in battle → use wasd(or whatever they entered in the options)/arrows for gui navigation
sfx, sfx, sfx
just being able to enter a battle, hit & get hit, win or die is fine, don’t need multiple enemies
3 second invincible time when the battle ends (when you win)
Respawn at your spawn point when dead (we’ll add a screen later on?)
Stop the battle box being at the bloody front

Misc

Teleport sounds (stairs, *click* of a door, …)
smooth fadeout-fadein when changing maps
Map format in BIN instead of XML (maybe? for performance gain)

I was sorta confused because you couldn't stack items in any of the earthbound games. But if you added the possibility, it wouldn't hurt, if not help many players :D

I always experienced a full inventory in EB so we might as well make life easier and add stacked items ;)

Note that due to the addition of the new npcs, you might experience your game crashing since you don't have the graphics for them yet. Try to avoid Peaceful Rest and the areas beyond them until we release the next update.

I went out into the area for the lols after the npcs were added, but i didnt crash. it was just the Mobile Sprout's sprite was too low down and looping around the panel. :)
