Where does the money go?
Saturn Valley Online is a non-profit massive multiplayer online game ran by a couple of Earthbound fans. We try to keep the server up and running at all times but servers cost money, so we pay for them with our own earned money. Same goes for our websites.
Total Costs - Domain Name Fees: $35/year
- Server Hosting Fees: $70/year
As you can see, donations are really appreciated to cover the costs.
Do I have to donate to Saturn Valley Online? No one is obliged to donate to us but keep in mind we spend a lot of our free time developing SVO, so if you're not such a great artist, programmer or music composer, another way of helping is to donate.
How much do people usually donate? As you can see on the list below, donations usually range between $5 and $20. Anything above $5 is very much appreciated, we're so glad people actually help us out that way, that we compiled a package of stuff you get when you donate at least $5. It contains the following - Custom Forum Title
- One custom ingame sprite for your account
- Bigger affiliate button on site
- Name on the list below
- Bronze "Moneybags" achievement badge

Drawbacks to donating? There could be drawbacks indeed, but as long as you keep your head cool there won't be any. Sometimes people may donate only to show off when they got their custom sprite in the game. This may annoy people and do damage to your popularity. Donating does not make you any more special than people who can't. Please keep this in mind, and don't try to use donations to bend rules, you will be treated as anyone else.

Rules for the Thank You package
- Forum title has to be appropriate and child friendly
- Your affiliate button and site linking to have to be appropriate and child friendly
- Email address may not contain sexual, vulgar, ... words
- Your sprite may still be rejected (but you may send in another one if it is)
- Your sprite sheet must be 128 (width) x 256 (height) with a pink (255,0,255) background
- A character cannot be bigger than 32 (width) x 48 (height). Too big/small ones will be rejected
- It has to fit the style of Earthbound
- We have the right to remove/delete your affiliate button/custom sprite/forum title at any time
