Hey guys

 

PR#2 is released. Not a lot of new exciting features but we added custom sprite support as well as added a bunch of Onett characters. As always, report bugs in the appropriate topic.

 

 

.. we think it's stable enough for the masses. We also want it to have at least most of the same features the old SVO had. To give you an example of what still needs to be added for us to consider a public release:

 

- Troops (code is available, needs tweaking)

- Online/Friend/Block lists

- NPCs / Enemies (need to write Artificial Intelligence)

- Trading (code is available, needs some tweaking)

- Paperdolling/Multiple sprite support (needs tweaking)

- Earthbound menus ingame

 

We'll be gradually adding the above in each upcoming PR release, which we are planning to release every Sunday.

 

 

You might ask yourself "Why are they only letting SVO Elite people play SVO???". I'll give you an answer right now.

 

The Preview Releases are highly unstable with bugs, crashes and errors. We don't want the world to think this is the final public version of the game. As SVO Elite folks have been around long enough to know this is just a test version to get rid of the bugs we decided to give them access to try and encounter as many bugs as possible.

 

Don't worry though, once we think the game is stable enough we'll release a PR to the public. When this might be depends on how fast the bugs can be fixed. The current release date for a public game is set somewhere in Q4 of 2010, but this will include (hopefully) the new battle system and all other things you find in Earthbound.

 

If you're not Elite and you REALLY want to check out the current PR you can always engage yourself to become an active member on the forum, contribute to the game (sprites, graphics, music, ...). If we see you put a lot of effort in them and they can be used in SVO, we'll grant you Elite status as well. For more information check out the Help Us page.

 

 

SVO Elite Folks...Grab it while it's hot! SVO Preview Release #1 can be found in the Andonuts Laboratory board on the forum.

 

A preview game will be released soon. All SVO Elite members will be given the opportunity to test the new SVO. A complete map of Onett and the interior of all the houses will be accessible. This version is mainly to see if there is any lag with a lot of people online at the same (there really shouldn't be any) and if there are any obvious bugs we've missed. For those who aren't SVO Elite members, you'll have to wait a little longer (or you can become elite if you like). Stay tuned!
