I've tried running it on another computer that was Windows 7, and it worked. But on this one, (Windows XP) it had this problem.
And it made me sad.
Quite sad.
I have the same problem still.

Well... that sure is weird o_O
1. Type /pos, what does it say in the chat?
2. Try completely redownloading and reinstalling the game

Can you give us a screenshot of the assertion error? What GPU do you have?

This appears to be a problem with the game engine SVO is using as I think I've encountered this working with the core code. All I can suggest is try a couple of times. Sorry

Re: Official Error topic [Read first before submitting error
Okay, so after finding this WONDERFUL game and downloading it, I ran inter something that I don't think anyone else has mentioned on this thread yet. Here how it all went down:
I downloaded the game.
I install all the things I seemed to need, and clicked the little icon on my desktop. (Very cute, by the way
)
And after everything got into place with that strange downloader thingy that let my read the wiki while I waited apparently, I finally get a window that says "Saturn Valley Online"! Hurray! But...
It's all white, and I get a little window that says "Saturn Valley Online has stopped working" and that something caused it to not work like it should. I have done everything that the post on the first page of this thread has said, but it still does that.
Has anyone else had this problem? I'd hate to not be able to play such a lovely game...

Uhm...I'm using Windows 7 and my graphics card is...uhm...Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset. If I'm looking at the right thing.

EDIT: I got it working!!!...sort of. I get the window and the music, but the music lags whenever i open up a different window, and the screen is mostly white with this one strange black bar.

Those graphics cards are not supported by the graphics framework we are using (SFML) hence the weird artifacts. However, an update has been released and we're going to try and add it into SVO by the time we release the next SVO version.

Um. Something weird just happened. I went into the Twoson-Threed tunnel, and when I tried to enter Threed, the game seemed to crash and sent me back to the beginning of the tunnel. However, I could still type, and I thought the command "/suicide" would send me back to the beginning.
Instead, this happened.
I was under the map, and I could walk around in the darkness. Whenever I wasn't moving, the underground sprite would disappear. Any idea what happened?

So many problems here.

That's really weird.. iirc you shouldn't be able to go to the end of the tunnel in the first place as there's a warp somewhere halfway that teleports you back to the beginning. The next version will have Threed so that should fix the problem one way or another.

Re: Official Error topic [Read first before submitting error
The sprout enemies are buggy beyond belief. (heh, alliteration) They look perfectly normal when they first appear onscreen, but when they move... Stuff like THIS happens:

White boxes over them, the sprites cutting in half, two half-sprites moving alongside each other... And none of the other enemies do this, at least not from my observations.
Also, while little number 1's normally fly off of the player sprite while it's next to an enemy, I've noticed that it's flown off while next to one of the rocks in the above image when no enemies were near, and I have no idea why.

The sprite is indeed corrupt in the live version. This has been fixed in the upcoming release. The damage flying thingies will be gone with the next release as that one will have a battle system
Note that I'm usually around in the SVO chatroom (see Chatroom link on the top bar of the forum), you can always ask me stuff there.

Live version found: 8
State: ReadingLiveVersionFileList
State: ReadingLiveVersionFileListDone
MasterServerReader error: Could not get a valid VersionFileList file from the master servers for version `8` - download failed.
