Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Discussion Thread
I personally enjoyed the Season 2 finale, especially the overhaul on the visual quality on part 2 (a bit odd that it changes between the 2 parts, but it's certainly noticeable from the first minute of the second part). I certainly understand not caring much for the music of the show (some people like songs in cartoons, some don't; the main reason Phineas and Ferb is a hit-or-miss show for people), but I actually love the work that's done behind it. Being a musician myself, it might just be that I can respect some of the composition choices made more than the average listener, but again it really boils down to opinions.
The story itself was nothing prize-worthy to be sure, but I felt it had a nice flow (albeit the ending was a bit rushed, but I honestly can't think of too many ways they'd differ it; a very 'written to the corner' problem to be sure).

I was scrolling through this thread and noticed something about a doormat on eBay that went for 10 grand, but it was fake.
It's actually partially true. The 10 grand part was definitely photoshopped, but the doormat is real.
Its post-auction page can be found here.

Dang, Whoever bought that must have a ton of disposable income.

*looks at GIF
Hahaha funny GIF.

Really? I mean, is a fanbase whose entire existence pretty much equates to "Creator of good shows makes another good show" really deserve a friggen documentary? Hell, I may be a brony, but I truly believe the only reason the show is so popular, and why I like it so much is that nothing better is on.
If this show came out 8 years ago, it wouldn't be nearly as popular.

Kickstarter is definitely a place where anyone can put up whatever they want.
Whether they actually receive the money depends on achieving the goal that had been set in the first place.
But since $300 for a doormat isn't exactly out of place, this getting made doesn't mean anything to me.

Then why did you link it?
Also, Kickstarter is a good idea in theory, but it's proven time and time again to be an "Internet famous? Get free money" scheme.
As if the world needed a Yogscast game.

A: Cool double quote. What was with that?
B: It might not mean anything to me, but I figured that this would be news of a reasonable degree for those who do care.

A: I hit Quote instead of Edit. I'd say probably, but that's literally the only reason that would ever happen.
B: Stay out of this thread, this is your first and final warning.
And before you ask, because I know you will, responding to this post counts towards being in this thread.
Feel free to PM me a response, though.

That's from S1. So yeah, it's been around.
Has anyone found any good Friendship is Abridged series(es)? I tried the Brony Dubs, but the fact that they're the same length as an actual episode is rather off-putting.

I haven't even looked. In my experience, 70% of abridged series are crap.

Yeah, it's really a shame that so many of them are slapped together without effort. One of their main draws is mocking the source material, but thinking up jokes for that iss definitely taxing. Most people just don't care enough to actually put time into lip synch, dubbing, video editing, etc. either.
Oh yeah, ponies show up for the first time The Punchline is Machismo. Seems more like a side joke to the Breath of Fire boxart though.

As far as fandubs/abridged series go, I've heard a lot of people talking about the "Friendship is Witchcraft" series, but I've never really been fond of the abridged series I've been shown, so I really don't go out of my way to watch any. I guess I could give that dub a watch to see if it's worth anything, but my guess is it'll fall into one of the two main groups of abridged series; it'll either be 100% jokes about the script/animation or it'll be filled with so many memes to the point that it's unbearable.
Also, as for the webcomic, it's a rather obtuse reference to the Walter Sobchak pony from one of the earlier season 2 episodes:

I've actually been meaning to look into Manly Guys Doing Manly Things, a few of my friends have been talking about it constantly over the past few months.
