Swearing in Mother 3 *spoilers*
I couldnt wait until the Mother 3 fan translation was done, but then I stumbled on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0p1l_NXNWo4
I just ignored that the video existed, But, when the translation came out a few months later, I discovered that
the video was right.........
I don't like how Mato made the characters swear a lot, I heard Lighter say Damnit and B-tards, and in chapter 2, Kumatora said dumbass and damn, I also thought I heard Bronson say Sh*t, but he was actually saying stuff. Not to mention how Wes calls Duster a moron 13 FREAKING TIMES!
I really hate swearing in fan-translations! Do you dislike the swearing? Tell me! Then I'll go tell Reidman about it!

Yes, I can see it now...
Reidman! Why the hell did you let Tomato work on this FREE translation for NEARLY TWO YEARS only to let there be SWEARING IN IT?! I DEMAND that you recall EVERY SINGLE patch back and have 'Mato retranslate ALL of the dialogue so there is ABSOLUTELY NO SWEARING in it!
Face it Masterge. This isn't Onett anymore. You could have been left out to dry by 'Tendo, but these people donated time and effort into making a faithful translation so you could experience it the way Itoi meant it to be.
Don't like it?
TOUGH.

Gotta live with it. You do know Earthbound is a highly censored version of Mother 2 right? This isn't a translation by NoA, so this time it's faithful to the real deal.
What's with Americans and censoring / swearing anyways?

Why do people mind the swearing so much? Are you guys five or something?
And in original Mother 2 the Magic Cake lady drops a lot of f-bombs. Get used to it.

She DOES!? Oh well....
As said here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=871 :
But since the ESRB exists, the official translation of Mother 3 (if there will EVER be one) will probably be Rated E10+ and have almost no swearing, except for an occasional "crap" here and there.....
If I see an f-bomb in the fan translation, just ONE F-BOMB, I WILL HACK THE FAN TRANSLATION TO REMOVE ALL SWEARING! If I can....
Face it, swearing is just a lame excuse to be "cooler" when saying "pingas" (which is not a profanity) is awesome!

Grow out of your 5-year-old maturity level and realize you'll hear it in every day life anyway.
If I hear one more person complain about swearing, I'm gonna explode.

Masterge, they're JUST WORDS. get used to it. people use swearing because it's the way they talk. Not because they want to sound cool.

Yes, because you desperately want to look cool when people light your frecking forest on fire.
I'd understand if Lucas was belting out swears every other line, but the swears are utilized appropriately.
ON THAT NOOOOOOOOTE...
I hereby declare a swearing contest whenever Masterge is online.
Yeh bloody pikers.

I don't see the problem. If you don't like it, don't play it.

*Ahem* Yes I saw it when my bro was playing Mother 3. It's kinda dumb to actually care about that. It can be really meaningful and serious when you are in a certain situation. It's part of language, and if you don't like it, tough.

Swearing is one the few healty portrayals of emotion we get in games with sprites as small as those in the Mother series, and heck, any game really. It's a good display of anger. To be honest, it's because certain groups of people are INCREDIBLY uptight about swearing or violence in video games and it's for that reason we can never see the original transcript of such games...
You have to live with swearing as it's a part of everyday lifestyle and even piety can't stop it.

So...
What is the true purpose of signatures?
To show off certain skills we might possess?
To advertise our website using a fancy banner?
To make some kind of sarcastic remark?
To quote a hilarious phrase we might've heard recently?
To me, no. I just use it to ask questions and make you think about stuff.

I wouldn't be surprised if the swearing was in Mother 3. With the regulations in Japan being a lot looser than they are here and in the US, the swearing was probably just a direction / the closest translation.
And seriously. If you broke arm (as an example), would you say "Aw, peanuts!", or something a little bit more... fruitful?

I'd just like to say, I can accept damn being considered a swear word but moron can hardly be anything worse than "stupid" or "idiot".

D= Watch your mouth! You can't just go around here throwing around the "I" word unless it's truly provoked.
