Re: cant update
Thanks for letting us know, with the whole hosting issue thing we lost track of it. Should be working now.

Re: cant update
I don't know if my last post went through (sorry if it did), but I'm having the same issue:
Running: True
State: Initializing
State: ReadingLiveVersion

Live version found: 8
State: ReadingLiveVersionFileList
State: ReadingLiveVersionFileListDone
MasterServerReader error: Could not get a valid VersionFileList file from the master servers for version `8` - download failed.
Errors: True
I don't have a firewall and I do have frameworks installed
Specs -
Samsung RC512 laptop
Windows 7 64bit
Core I7 @ 3.0
nVidia 310m
6 gig ram
I don't know if it matters, but I'm in Afghanistan right now getting internet through a Greek satellite provider.

Re: cant update
Thanks for bringing that up, there was indeed something wrong with the updating process. It should be fixed in a couple of hours. Try again then, if it still doesn't work please let us know so we can look into it.
EDIT: I just tried with a public live game and it seemed to work again. Can you confirm?

Re: cant update
That's weird, anyway, I rarred all files for you, just download this file and copy the files over the ones you installed. That should make it work.

I really appreciate this. It's funny though about 20 minutes ago I tried again and it's currently updating. I'm hoping that it finishes soon - I've been wanting to try this out for a while. Thanks again Skye!

Re: cant update
No problem, I was already wondering why there were so few people trying out SVO lately. Thank you for pointing out the error. I usually hop online with a development version that doesn't use the updater so I didn't notice that issue and most other people probably just didn't bother to ask us.
Starting next update I'll do both auto-update and release a zip or rar file with all files for manual updates in case the auto updates fail.

That sounds good. If this is anything that I'm hoping it is then I will attempt to help anyway I can. Back home I have a couple personal servers that I could help host files and what not (won't get home for another 4 months or so) and I can always throw the website around the few forums that I visit.
Gonna do some test runs when it gets done patching - I can't wait!

Re: cant update
A server located in the US is something we could definitely use, as for advertising the game on other sites and forums, I'm not too eager on doing that at the moment since there isn't really much you can do in the game yet. Once Darkfrost has the battle system up and running people should definitely spread the word. Unles.. you know people who know their way around C# since another programmer would speed up things quite a bit.
TL;DR Don't expect too much of it atm, else you'll be disappointed.

For sure - like I said I'm deployed atm, but when I get home we can definitely talk about getting the files over on my server - that should be no issue at all.
I really wish I could help with the programming, but I only know basic, vb, and a little java. Unfortunately I'm studying network administration as opposed to software engineering

Re: cant update
That's very odd. Try downloading it on another computer/internet connection and copying the files.

Re: cant update
Make sure it has permissions to write files to the folder SVO is running from? I'm not really sure what would cause that, but UAC/Limited accounts can be quite strict, try running it as an admin, or copying the game to your documents and running it from there? It looks like it might be downloading the first file, then being unable to save it and getting stuck, not entirely sure though, it's certainty a strange issue
