I'm rocking a Filia/Ms.Fortune team. I originally wanted an Umbrella/Squigly team but they both got cut out for DLC to make room for Valentine & Double...

thanks for the info on that! I saw it on PSN and was oddly intrigued by it. Sounds like it does one thing not enough fighting games do nowadays: tutorial. I don't like being thrust out into story/adventure mode with no clue as how to do any combos or special attacks or anything

BlazBlue has a pretty huge tutorial that could teach someone who'd never played a fighting game in their life.

I knew I should get into the BlazBlue series! I'm not a total newbie to fighting games but it wouldn't hurt for me to play a tutorial like that. Like i get invincibility frames and that kind of stuff (somewhat), but reading yours and Blue's posts i've been getting a bit lost lol

Yeah, BlazBlue is definitely a good gateway fighter. My opinion on "How to get into fighting and eventually play incredibly hardcore ones" goes something like this.

SF4 -> MvC3 (learn about OTGs, combo resets, etc.) -> Blazblue -> SFIII -> Guilty Gear

Stay away from MvC2.

So, the past 2 days i've been playing skullgirls, and the one major complaint i have is the difficulty of the AI. It's ridiculous! What kind of AI can pull off a 10 hit combo on the easiest difficulty? Other than that i'm having quite a lot of fun playing with friends. I definitely think Valentine will be my main. With only her i was able to beat my friend several times in a row :) Which is another great thing about it by the way! I love that when it's 3 vs 1 the game evens out the damage!

I haven't finished the tutorial yet. For some reason, when i need to complete a combo it takes many times before i can get my fingers to do the combo instead of just spazzing out on the controller.

2 more things: who's squigly? I know who umbrella is, but Squigly? and is there going to be DLC for more characters?

This is Squigly, she has a parasite like Filia, only I like her design more. Right now Fillia is just a placeholder character till she comes out, I'm not really a fan of Fillia. It's just that her moveset is the simplest.
You can actually get a small peek or her during Double's level 3, She's the 2nd to last character Double transforms into.

And as far as the difficulty in the AI, I honestly don't see the difficult. They can pull off simple strings in the lowest difficulty but combos in this game are huge, a 10 hit combo is pretty much nothing.

Yeah, i suppose you have a point. I guess i'll just have to get better. I'm not a big fan of filia either. During the tutorial her high punch seemed to be a good launcher with decent damage but playing against my friend i was realizing it had very little horizontal range. She's not terrible, but I'll stick with Valentine for now. Now, i'm looking forward to Squigly though!

The AI just still kind of annoys me though because i played the first fight in Painwheels story and Peacock was truly a nuisance. i couldn't even get close to her :S

Something like a tutorial has been released for Persona 4: The Ultimate In Mayonaka Arena.

It's a shame they couldn't get Teddie's original VA on it though, but I don't know if it could change in the future.

I don't see any problems with the "2 buttons to character and 2 buttons to Persona" attack system, since your Persona won't be able to move independently anyway.

I think.

It's also got Barrier Bursts, but they're based on a refilling gauge instead of a set number of uses. Even with the gauge, they're actually pretty close to BlazBlue, where the first one starts your gauge off half full, and then subsequent ones empty it completely. I don't know if it carries across rounds, but I doubt it. The input to activate them seems significantly likely to mash out on accident (A+c+D instead of A+B+C+D). I wonder if there's going to be anything bound to those four.

If you want a good idea of what these mechanics mean in an actual match instead of just as a tutorial, I've got something.

Naoto (the one with the gun) vs. Mitsuru (chick with the rapier)

For those of you who don't think comeback mechanics should exist/are being done correctly, it doesn't look like Awakened Mode will be a huge problem. It won't let you win with three moves like X-Factor, but the damage reduction is noticeable.
Talking to you is about as productive as factoring a hectopascal.
